Owners, admins and chatters When a fan writes in another language, OnlyX can show his messages in the language you read. Translation changes only what you see, never what the fan gets.

Before you start

  • You need an owner, admin or chatter account. A chatter can translate only the conversations of their assigned creators.
  • Translation settings belong to you. Each person on your team picks their own.

Translate one conversation

Open the conversation

In OnlyX, click Inbox. Then click the fan’s conversation.The conversation opens. A round button with a translation icon floats at the bottom of the messages.

Open the translate bubble

Click the round translation button.A small box opens. Its title names your language, for example “Translate to English”.

Turn translation on

In the box, turn on the switch.The button turns blue. After a moment, the fan’s messages and Hugo’s messages show in your language. Each translated message has a small line under it, for example “Translated from Spanish”.

Read the original words

To see what the fan wrote, click the “Translated from” line under his message.The message shows the original text, and the line reads “Show translation”. Click it again to go back to the translation.
The switch in the bubble works only for this conversation, and only until you reload OnlyX or close the tab. To translate every conversation, use your settings.

Open your Appearance settings

In OnlyX, click Settings. Then click Appearance.You can also click Inbox settings in the translate bubble.

Turn on Auto-translate messages

In the Inbox display card, under Translation, turn on Auto-translate messages.OnlyX saves the change at once.

Choose your language

In Translate into, select the language you read.The menu has English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian. Messages already on screen are translated again into the new language.

Every conversation you open is now translated. You can still turn translation off for one conversation, with its translate bubble. To hide the bubble, turn off Floating translate bubble in the same card. Translation still follows Auto-translate messages.

What gets translated

Only the 50 newest messages in a conversation are translated. Older messages that you scroll back to stay in their original language. New messages are translated as they arrive.
OnlyX never translates what you type. The fan gets your message exactly as you wrote it, so reply in his language.

If something goes wrong

Check these causes:
  • It is one of the older messages. Only the 50 newest messages are translated.
  • Someone on your team sent it from OnlyX. Those messages are never translated.
  • The translation came back almost the same as the original, for example in a language the service does not know. OnlyX then shows the original.
Translation failed in the background, and OnlyX shows no message when it does. Open the conversation again, or turn the bubble’s switch off and on again.
Floating translate bubble is off in your settings. Turn it on in Settings > Appearance, in the Inbox display card.
Your change was not saved. Wait a moment and change the setting again.
