The 7 days start when the first confirmation email reaches you. Until then, the Email card reads “Send yourself the link — the 7-day window starts once it arrives.”
While the days count down, the card shows how many are left, for example “4 days left to confirm.”
A new email does not give you more time. The 7 days still count from the first email.
Each link works for 7 days, and only once.
