# Set hard limits and soft boundaries

> Tell Hugo what the creator never does and what she steers away from, then save so the limits are in force.

<Badge color="purple">Owners, admins and content VAs</Badge>

Hard limits are things the creator never does, however a fan asks. Soft boundaries are topics she steers away from without refusing. Hugo gets both lists before every reply.

## Before you start

* You need an owner, admin or content VA account. Chatters can open **AI Persona**, but they cannot save it.
* Hugo does not answer a creator's fans until at least one hard limit is saved for her.

## Set the limits

    In OnlyX, click **Creators**. Then click the creator, click **AI Persona** and click **Limits**.

    On a creator whose limits were never saved, every preset is ticked, and "Limits not saved" shows next to **Save**.

  <Step title="Review the hard limits">
    Under **Hard limits**, read each preset. Click a preset to untick it if it does not apply to this creator.

    Ticked hard limits have a red outline. Unticked ones fade.

  <Step title="Add her own hard limits">
    In **Anything else she must never do**, type anything else she never does. Separate the items with commas, for example "mentioning her sister, the city she films in".

  <Step title="Review the soft boundaries">
    Under **Soft boundaries**, click a preset to untick it if it does not apply. For example, untick **Her relationship status** if she talks about it openly.

  <Step title="Add her own soft boundaries">
    In **Anything else to steer away from**, type other topics she avoids, separated by commas.

  <Step title="Save the limits">
    At the top of the tab, click **Save**.

    The message "AI Persona saved" appears, and "Limits not saved" disappears.

  <Step title="Check the setup step">
    Click **Overview**.

    The step "Set the hard limits" shows **Done** and how many limits are saved, for example "13 hard · 8 soft".

<Note>
  Nothing is in force until you click **Save**. The ticks on a new creator are only a suggestion. Until you save, the setup step shows "None saved yet" and Hugo does not answer her fans.

## The presets

**Hard limits** are absolute: Hugo never agrees to one, and never offers, sends or sells content that crosses one. If a fan asks for that content, Hugo says a warm no and offers what she does make.

When a fan only talks about a limit, the newest Hugo may not say no:

* He may play along in words, or steer the chat to something she likes.
* He always steers away from anything involving under-18s, family, animals, force, blood or waste.

All 13 presets start ticked:

| Hard limit | What it covers |

| **Meeting in person** | Meeting a fan in real life |
| **Her real address or live location** | Where she lives, or where she is right now |
| **Her legal name or documents** | Her real name. Hugo uses only the persona name. |
| **Phone number or personal socials** | Her number and her private accounts |
| **Moving the chat off OnlyFans** | Moving to Snapchat, Telegram or Discord, which can get the account banned |
| **Payment outside OnlyFans** | Cash App, crypto or bank transfer, which carries the same ban risk |
| **Anything involving under-18s** | Including age play |
| **Non-consent or force** | Any scenario without consent |
| **Family or incest roleplay** | Not allowed by the platform |
| **Animals** | Not allowed by the platform |
| **Arranging or discussing illegal drugs** | Supplying, selling or meeting to buy |
| **Blood, injury or extreme violence** | Not allowed by the platform |
| **Bodily waste** | Not allowed by the platform |

For a Telegram creator, two presets are different: **Moving the chat off Telegram** and **Payment outside the pay link**.

**Soft boundaries** are topics she steers away from, so the chat keeps going. All 8 presets start ticked:

| **Free content** | Offers a paid option instead of refusing |
| **Video or voice calls** | Turns them down, unless your team sets one up |
| **How much she earns** | Changes the subject instead of giving a number |
| **That the account is managed** | Never brings up that a team runs the chat |
| **Politics and religion** | Stays light and does not take a side |
| **Other creators or agencies** | Makes no comparisons and does not gossip |
| **Trauma and mental health** | Is kind, then moves on |
| **Her relationship status** | Avoids the topic. Untick it if the persona is open about it. |

## How Hugo uses them

Hugo gets her hard limits and soft boundaries before every reply. He does not offer, price or describe content that crosses a hard limit. Limits you type in your own words are checked too.

Limits do not decide which conversations go to your team. The **Escalation policy**, at the end of the same **Limits** section, does that. See [Escalation policy: choose what goes to your team](/hugo/escalation-policy).

## If something goes wrong

    No hard limit is saved. Either you did not click **Save**, or every hard limit is unticked and the **Anything else she must never do** box is empty. Tick or type at least one hard limit, then click **Save**.

    Limits saved in other words than the presets show as text in the **Anything else she must never do** and **Anything else to steer away from** boxes. They are still in force. Tick the presets that also apply, then click **Save**.

    Try again. If it fails again, check your role: chatters cannot save the persona. Ask an owner, admin or content VA.

    Changes are kept only until you leave the tab. Opening another tab or another creator before you click **Save** loses them.
